Enriqueta “Luli” de Guzmán, DVM, of Bishop passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 11, 2026. She was raised in Puerto Rico by the late Rafael M. de Guzman, MD, and Josefina Caballero alongside her siblings Rafael and Josefina, both surviving. She grew up among the beauty of the ocean waves, horses, and fellow Boricuas.
Luli came to the mainland United States to the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She then attended the University of Georgia and earned a Masters of Science. Along the way she met the love of her life, Ross Karl Langenbach IV, surviving. The two of them married in Puerto Rico in 1987 and eventually settled around Athens, GA, where they raised their children, Diandra Bailey and Tai Langenbach, both surviving.
Throughout her life Luli demonstrated compassion to the world and people she loved. As a veterinarian, she cared for her fuzzy patients as if they were her own pets. As a friend, she was always checking in and willing to help at the first sign of distress. As a daughter and sister, she was everyone’s favorite treasure. As a wife, she encouraged her husband to pursue his dreams—professional, athletic, and beyond—and lived vicariously through him to be where she could not. As a mother, she gave everything so her children could explore the world at their own pace and find their way.
Luli strove to be a healer in all aspects of life, bringing happiness to those around her and finding the joy in every moment. She demonstrated a tenacious optimism that inspires her loved ones to do the same. Whether she was visiting Puerto Rico with her family, training a dog to run in agility competitions, discovering a life-changing novel, or checking out one of her favorite brunch spots, she always found something to keep her looking towards the horizon. Bad times were temporary, and the sun would come out tomorrow.
She was also a very private person who wanted to support others rather than stand in the spotlight herself. She would probably be annoyed by all of this attention. But her loved ones know she was the best, and we want everyone else to know that, too. We shall always love her and cherish the time we had together. No amount of time would have been enough.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677, at Noon. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2pm at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made in honor of Luli to the Athens Area Humane Society.
