Liz, the beloved niece, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, reposed in the Lord, amidst the love and care of her family.

Liz grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Chrisanthe and Constantine Seiss. She lost her mother to a tragic accident when she was just 9 years old and was raised by her father, along with her sister Virginia, and a live-in governess, affectionately known as Nan-Nan. She grew up amidst the love of her robust extended Greek family with lots of aunts and uncles and first-cousins, all living within a 10 mile radius. She enjoyed tremendous warmth and celebration that marked every holiday and birthday gathering as one big family.

Liz graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1983, having completed the Special Education Plan for Students in Delaware County. She completed her training and certification in Food Service and Hospitality at Marple Vocational School in Broomall, PA and then at the Elwin Institute in Media PA between the years 1978 to 1987.

Liz worked at the Chick-fil-A in the Granite Run Mall for 10 years, where she came to be known by all the mall employees for her cheerful demeanor and friendly smile. Everyone enjoyed a Chick-fil-A sandwich and a chat with Liz as she cleaned and stocked the tables and condiments in the dining area.

In October 2002, Liz moved to Watkinsville/Athens, Georgia, where her cousin Christine and her husband, Fr Anthony Salzman and their 2 sons live. She worked at Publix Supermarket as a “bagger” for 18 years. During that time, Liz got to know just about everyone in the small town of Watkinsville, remembering not only their names, but their children’s and grandchildren’s names. She always gave a cheerful smile and a friendly greeting to everyone. She called the Publix in Watkinsville the “Center of her Universe”.

Life was not easy for Liz, given her mobility, hearing loss and other health issues. Her existence included a lot of medical oversite and life was often frustrating for her but she eventually landed in just the right place to live at a pace that suited her. She had her own apartment at Iris Place – now Terrabella – for 20 years, where she made many friends and enjoyed the daily activities such as Bingo, Skip-Bo, painting and holiday parties. She was particularly good at Skip-Bo.

Liz attended Saint Philothea Greek Orthodox Church with her family and was always the first person to greet a visitor or new church member. She sat up front and sang all the words to the Divine Liturgy, which she knew by heart and she could recite the Lord’s Prayer in Greek. She also attended the monthly social gatherings by the Athens Pilot Club and made lasting friendships.

Liz is survived by her uncle Harry Seiss, aunt Mary Seiss, sister, Virginia (John) Child and nephew John Child. Also her 7 first-cousins, Steven Leventelis, Gregory (Lisa) Paninos, Mark (Keri) Paninos, James (Louise) Leventelis, Christine (Fr. Anthony) Salzman, Nikki (Tasos) Serafim and her 11 “extended” nieces and nephews: Jason Paninos, Alexander Paninos, Eliana (and Mike) Moore, Chrysanthe Paninos, Kiara Paninos, Emmanuel Leventelis, Marianthi Leventelis, Stephanos (Anastasia) Salzman, Maximos Salzman, John Serafim and Lexi Serafim.

May her memory be eternal!
