Elizabeth Maureen Owens Patton, 92, went home to be with her heavenly Father on December 27, 2025. Maureen, as she was known to her family and friends, was born November 20, 1933 in Johnson County, GA, but lived most of her life in the Bogart area of Oconee County where she was a devoted housewife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Bud) Patton, her son Terrel (Terry) Keith Patton, parents Austin T. and Mollie Pruett Owens, and sisters Trellie Arthur and Joanne Roach. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Maureen was a 1950 graduate of Bogart High School where she excelled on the girls’ basketball team. She was a charter member of Living Word Baptist Church where, for many years, she faithfully served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of Women on Mission, and as an Awana leader.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 2 P.M. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, with the Reverends Larry Davidson and Dr. Aaron Dougherty officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Arthur, Gary Arthur, William Reeves, Rick Carter, David Puckett, and Lee Sims.

The family wishes to publicly express their sincere gratitude to the Skilled Nursing staff at Presbyterian Village, Athens, for providing care and comfort to Maureen during the last years of her life.
