Elizabeth Lindsay Gemmell

Elizabeth Lindsay Gemmell, 89, wife of the late James Campbell Gemmell, died on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Born in Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James Garvie and Helen Bell Garvie and mother to the late James Gemmell. Mrs. Gemmell moved from Scotland to Bayville, NY in 1961 and in 2000 she retired to Athens, GA. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time at the Oglethorpe County Senior Center after moving to Winterville. Survivors include her two children: Helen Gemmell and George Gemmell; grandchildren: Lindsay, Ian and Rebecca Gemmell and three great grandchildren; Aspen Elizabeth Gemmell and Scarlett and Grayson Hall. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
