Eleanor Frances Farischon Salinsky, 84, died August 10, 2025.
A native of New York, Eleanor lived in the Athens area since 1974. She was the only child of the late Leo Farischon and Natalie Hines Farichson. Educated to be a lab technician, she worked with the USDA before staying home to raise her two daughters. Eleanor has been reunited with husband of over 54 years, Joel, who passed away earlier this year.
Private services will be held.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Gwen (Lance) Broeker of Atlanta and Wendy Ellen (Chip) Holland of Watkinsville; sister-in-law, Eileen (Steve) Rosenthal of Merrick, NY; five grandchildren, Madison Holland, Riley Holland, Charlotte Holland, Natalie Broeker, and Adeline Broeker.
Those who knew Eleanor knew she never met a stranger. She would talk to anyone who was in the vicinity. She loved her husband, children, and granddaughters more than anything. A close second (and sometimes first depending on the day) were her sports teams—her beloved Mets and NY Rangers. Lastly, she loved all animals (especially wolves and elephants), reading, swimming, and a good (sometimes disturbing) show on the Discovery Channel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund.
