Eleanor Bell Aldridge, born on August 3, 1930, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2026, in Athens, Georgia.
Raising her children and caring for her family were Eleanor’s top priorities. For over 70 years, she was married to her late husband, Jesse R. Aldridge. Their union stood as a testament to strength and unity in marriage, serving as a guiding example for their children.
Eleanor cherished her time spent in Montgomery, Alabama, where she formed enduring friendships with a diverse group of people. As a dedicated member of the University Church of Christ in Montgomery, she actively participated in church activities and took pride in her contributions.
Eleanor possessed a sharp wit and artistic talents. Her artistic abilities were evident in her paintings of landscapes and family portraits. She also enjoyed gardening and arranging flowers, and she had the opportunity to showcase her best pieces at the state fair. She had many hobbies and was an avid golfer and an expert bridge player.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse R. Aldridge; her parents, Mark Hamilton Bell and Alberta Jean Bell; her daughter, Kathy Leonard (Terry); and her brothers, Walter Bell and Mark Bell, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Wright (Tim); Cynthia Clark (Dave); her grandchildren, Reed Wright (Christy), Rebecca Meagher (Jamie), Rachel Broadway (Mike), James Clark (Emily), Robert Clark (Brittni), and her seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at a future date. Eleanor will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama.
