Edith Hammond Craft

Edith Hammond Craft, 88, died March 31, 2019.  Born April 1, 1930 in Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Woodie and Vernon Catherine Cramer Peterman.

Edith was a graduate of Barrett School of Nursing at University Hospital, Augusta and was a lifelong nurse, committed to serving the Lord by serving others. She was retired from St. Mary’s Hospital.  Edith was a devoted member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, the Joyful Faith Sunday School Class and XYZ.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Howell Hammond, Sr. and Claude E. Craft, she is survived by her children, W. Howell Hammond, Jr. (Leslie) of Smyrna, Melanie Kopp Tull (Michael) of Roswell, Linda Hammond Redfern (Mike) of Hiram and Ben Hammond (Angie) of Athens; stepdaughter, Claudia Gallagher (Rodney) of Athens; grandchildren, W. Howell Hammond, III, Drew Redfern, Lindsey Bohanon, Jordan Redfern, Garrison Hammond, Conner Hammond and Jenna Foy; step grandchildren, Christelle Christian, Cherylle Bradford and Cheri Paldrmann; great grandchildren, Whit Hammond, Ella Kate Hammond, Hudson Bohanon, Raleigh Foy and Tucker Foy; step great grandchildren, Quinn Paldrmann, Avery Paldrmann, Wayne Brostrom and Zachary Brostrom; 2 sisters, 5 brothers and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 beginning at 12:00 noon.  Services will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating, with special words by her nephew, Buz Amason.

The Joyful Faith Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
