Douglas Tomlinson

Douglas J. Tomlinson of Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 5, 2026.

After graduating from Alcovy High School, where he was a senior superlative and first chair in the state of Georgia, Doug began a brief career as a retail manager before attending the University of Georgia. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973 and an MBA in 1974.

Doug was employed with Reliance Electric for more than 25 years and with Silgan White Cap for 15 years. He was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, J.G and Beverly Tomlinson, his sister, Kitty Ann Tomlinson; and brothers Dennis and Charles Tomlinson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Campbell Tomlinson; his children, Sean, Kimberly, and Douglas Tomlinson; his sister, June Staines (Roy); his brother-in-law, Roy Campbell (Trish); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he shared with them and the many memories he leaves behind.
