Dorothy McCannon Lord

Dorothy McCannon Lord, 91, of Athens, passed away on August 28, 2025. Born on March 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Marrow McCannon and Ethel Huff McCannon.

Dot was a lifelong resident of Athens. She attended East Athens Baptist Church and loved to bake, being well known for her delicious cakes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Benton Lord, Sr.; sons, Roger Benton “Ben” Lord, Jr., Darrel Keith Lord.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Garrett Benton Lord, Zachary Fulp; cousins, Anita (Gary) Thomason, Jimmy Miller, Randall Miller and numerous other cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, EAST, Athens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include Lyle Malaier, Lance Malaier, Mike Kelley, Mike Lee, Ken Brock, Brian Patton. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Miller, Jim Allgood, Greg Patton.
