Dorothy Ann Sanders Wheless

Dorothy Ann Sanders Wheless, peacefully passed away at her home on April 08, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, George Kline Wheless, mother Nancy Elizabeth Andrews Sanders, father William Tommy Sanders, brother Robert Sanders, sister Patsy Winn, and grandson Christopher Kline Watts.

Survivors include daughter Kathy Wheless Little (Danny) of Crawford, daughter Carolyn Wheless Poole (Tim) of Watkinsville, son Tommy Wheless (Carol) of Crawford, daughter Candie Wheless Watts (Anthony) of Crawford, brother Ray Sanders of Comer, grandchildren Joey Doolittle (Tamara), Kyle Little (Kennedee), Jennifer Minish, Josh Poole (Katherine), Taylor Smith (Tony) and Beau Watts, great-grandchildren Lacie Doolittle, Sawyer Poulnott, Ramsey Little, Berkley Little and Sutton Smith.

Miss Dot was a member of Lexington Baptist Church and also attended Crawford Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School class and cooking on Wednesday nights with the ladies. She and her husband Kline started Wheless Grading Company in 1964 and is still in operation today. She loved farming, gardening, and watching her Koi fish and birds. Miss Dot and Kline owned Tennessee Walking horses and always enjoyed going to the horse shows and watching their grandchildren ride. They were proud owners of several World Grand Champion horses. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but we know that she is happy today being reunited with the love of her life, Kline.

The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Robbie Hubbard, Miriam Pledger, Frances Carter, Jill Fowler, Mattie Smith, Nita Fulton, and Harriet Davenport. Your help was greatly appreciated, and we will never forget the compassion you all showed to our mother, especially in her last days. Thank you all so much for everything!

A celebration of the life for Mrs. Wheless will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Anthony Watts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Tommy Wheless, Danny Little, Kyle Little, Tim Poole, Josh Poole, Joey Doolittle and Beau Watts will be an honorary pallbearer. Entombment will follow the service at Athens Memory Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
