Donald “Don” Scott Williamson, 74, of Winterville, passed away in the comfort of his home on July 29, 2025. Born in Tampa, FL on August 16, 1950, he was the son of the late Benton Williamson and Norma Compton Williamson.
Don served in the United States Army as a combat engineer officer and engineer management officer. After his time in the military, he started his own business, Georgetown Frames, which he operated for 18 years. After that, Don worked for the National Federation of Independent Business’ for five years, until he opened a second frame shop, Winterville Frames, which he operated for several years until he retired.
Don enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, driving his tractor, and gardening. His idea to share garden knowledge, seeds and know-how became a reality 12 years ago when he and his wife with another couple founded a local garden club, PlowShare. At the time of his passing, one longtime PlowShare member wrote, “ Full of gratitude for this kind loving community that Don helped bring together.”
Survivors include his wife, Carol Williamson; daughter, Raisa Craine (Shawn); brother, Gary Williamson: sister, Pam Williamson (Mitchell); grandchildren, Barrett Craine and Banks Craine. Don had a gentle, loving spirit and loved God, his family, church family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Lexington Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Bartlett officiating. The family will receive friends just before the service starting at 1:15.
