Donald Watson Connor

Donald Watson Connor, 89, of Winder, died on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Born in Birmingham, AL to Rudolph Watson Connor and Ruby Setzer Connor, Don played football for the University of Alabama and graduated with his bachelor's degree in 1956. He moved to Atlanta in 1962 and also lived in Macon before relocating to the Athens area. He worked as a salesman for Republic Steel. He was a member of St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church in Watkinsville.

Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Kyla Kelley Connor.

Don is survived by his wife of 25 years, Georgeta Stoian Connor; his children, Michael (Rene) Connor and Melissa (Don Radcliffe) Connor; two brothers, Jim (Cindy) Connor and Rudy (Sally) Connor; grandchildren Hayley Connor and Ella (Jeremy Shpizner) Radcliffe; great-grandson Henry Radcliffe Shpizner; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at Lord and Stephens, Oconee Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. with an Orthodox Trisagion prayer service at 6:30. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oconee Memorial Park.
