Doc Hudson, 84, died September 16, 2026.
Born September 3, 1942, in Jackson County, he was a son of the late Hassie Mae Gooch and Curtis William Hudson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dennis Hudson, Margaret Bradberry, Elmo Hudson, Betty Hawkins, Shirley Croy and Linda Hewell.
Doc retired after more than thirty-eight years with Shuman Wrecker Service. He was a kind, good-hearted man who helped many people over the years. He was known for his quick-wit and loved spending time with his family. Doc was an avid UGA Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan and especially enjoyed a meal at the Waffle House.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 21, 2026, at 2:00PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Helen Carter Hudson; three children, Debbie (Bill) Nelms of Lexington, Stacy (Rusty) Smith of Bishop and Scott Hudson of Watkinsville; siblings, Mike Hudson, Junior Hudson, Billy Hudson, Patricia Roberts and Rita Witcher; grandchildren, Russ Smith, Jim Smith, Michael Tiller, Courtney Chancey, Kevon Hudson, Lauren Hudson and J.J. Hudson; great grandchildren, Logan Smith, Sophie Smith, Haleigh Dills, Lannie Dills, Bradley Tiller, Annistyn Chancey, (expecting Arabella Chancey), Kaiya Hudson and K.J. Hudson; canine companions, Maverick and Jaxon.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, is in charge of arrangements.
