Dianne Hale Jordan

December 29, 1945 — August 10, 2025

Bogart

Dianne Hale Jordan died peacefully on August 10, 2025. She was 79.

Dianne was born on December 29, 1945, in Athens, Georgia, at Athens St. Mary's Hospital to Alberta and John Hale.

Dianne graduated from the last class of Woman's College of Georgia in Milledgeville (now known as Georgia College) where she served as yearbook editor. She taught elementary school in cities throughout Georgia and Tennessee, including Brunswick, Thomson, Henry, and Sandersville. During the last 10 years of her professional career, she transitioned to a school librarian role.

She was the mother of three adult children and six grandchildren and noted before her passing that "keeping up with Ed and the children," was her proudest accomplishment.

Dianne was, above all, a lady. She never left the house without lipstick, a handbag, and earrings. She always knew the preferred etiquette for a given situation. Neighbors and friends could expect a plate of cookies at Christmas and home-grown tomatoes in the summer.

Dianne took pride in running a smooth home and continued to do so until the end. She was an incomparable home cook who loved to entertain-be it an immaculate Southern feast at home, or a meticulously planned tailgate. She made the best pimento cheese in the world. Ask her children.

She was involved in her community, and served as a long-time member of Georgia Trust, president of Alpha Delta Kappa, treasurer of Washington County Historical Society, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and president of Merry Tillers. She was instrumental in saving Sandersville Elementary School.

Dianna had a knack for organization, and it showed in the way she approached the world, whether it was in her days as a librarian handling book ordering, documenting plants and seeds at Jordan Farms and Nursery, or getting multi-component meals on the table every night of her 57-year marriage.

She had many passions. Among them were a great love for history, gardens, travel, reading, and being with her family. After the dinner dishes were put away, she liked passing the evenings with a jigsaw puzzle. She was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, attending the Masters at the Augusta National, and cheering on UGA's basketball team—which may have sparked memories from her youth when she played basketball as a teen.

She and Ed travelled extensively after retirement. Ireland held a special place in her memory, and visiting the entire island of Cuba was a bucket list item that exceeded her expectations.

She was a kind person who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her well.

She is survived by her husband, Ed; children Jessica (Ron), John (Meredith), and Jason (Kelly); brother, Fred (Eileen); and grandchildren, Raleigh, Parker, Ella, Wyatt, Eli, and Dottie.
