Deneen Ayshea Giles, 58, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20, 2023, after unexpected complications from surgery. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., and the Funeral will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Reggie Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 495 Cedar Grove Church Road, Comer, GA 30629, or to Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, 963 Highway 98E, Danielsville, GA 30633, in memory of Deneen to offset the funeral expenses.
Deneen was born and raised Louisiana. She graduated from High School in 1982. She married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Giles, and the couple made their home in Louisiana where they raised their two sons. From the time she became a wife, Deneen continuously worked hard to create a loving and encouraging home for her family. With her husband’s family being from Middle Georgia, the family decided to move to the Athens area in 1999. She worked in commercial sales with Fastenal for several years until her health would not allow her to continue. She began to focus more on her family and friends, caring for her grandchildren, participating in Bible Studies and prayer groups at church, and worshipping the Lord she loved so much. She even moved her mother to her home in Georgia and cared for her the past five years. Deneen’s constant faith kept her moving forward, even in times of adversity. In fact, the decision to proceed with the surgery last Monday was totally faith-based, knowing that God would hold her in the palm of His hands. She was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Deneen was preceded in death by her father, William Ahysen.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Deneen are her loving and devoted husband of forty-two years, Johnny Giles; her sons, John Henry “Johnny” Giles, Jr.; David Giles (Johnette); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her mother, Frances Ahysen; her sister, Terrie Regal (Mike); her brother, Ricky Ahysen (Juanita); and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at lordandstephens.com. Lord & Stephens Danielsville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
