Athens - David Thaxton Hancock, 62, of 965 Winterville Road, Athens, GA died in an automobile accident Monday, July 18, 2005.
A native of Athens, GA, David was a graduate of Athens High School and the University of Georgia. He was Service Director for Phil Cook Motor Company in Madison, GA.
He was a son of the late Alice Thaxton Hancock and Robert Derrell Hancock. He was a lifelong member of Tuckston United Methodist Men, Faithlinks Sunday School Class and Rapid Response Team.
David coached the Dairy Pak International Little League team at Satterfield Park for 14 years and was a member of the Northeast Georgia Officials Association for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Fleming Hancock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan David and Sabrina Hancock and Brad Edward and Heather Hancock; two grandchildren, Sydney Raquel Hancock and Bryce David Hancock; sister and brother-in-law, Jacque and Richard House; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Susan Hancock; aunt and uncle, Dycie Hancock Schneider and Charles Schneider; uncle, Lamar Thaxton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His love of the Lord, his love of life, his generosity and his caring ways will be remembered by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Lord and Stephens, EAST.
Celebration services will be Thursday, July 21, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Tuckston United Methodist Church. Dr. Doug Thrasher and Rev. Lee McNeil will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund, c/o Tuckston United Methodist Church, 4175 Lexington Road, Athnes, GA 30605 (706) 353-1311.
