David Wayne Cowart, born on June 25, 1952, in Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Elberton, Georgia. His final days were spent at Pruitt Health of Elberton, where the staff’s dedicated care and compassion were deeply appreciated by his family.

David’s life was marked by a deep passion for all things mechanical. He worked closely with his uncle, Willis Langford, as a valued sidekick and mechanic, sharing his love and expertise with cars, trucks, and Farmall tractors. His hands-on approach and genuine enthusiasm for machinery touched many, creating lasting memories for those who knew him.

A visitation to honor David’s memory will be held on April 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes Danielsville, located at 963 Highway 98 E, Danielsville, GA 30633. Funeral service will take place on April 27, 2026, Monday 11:00 a.m at Lord & Stephens, Danielsville Chapel. Interment will be at Sandy Cross Cemetery.

David is survived by his loving sister, Sheila Smith, and brother, Neal (Joan) Doster. He was also cherished by his nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in his heart and who equally loved him in return.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jamie Lee Doster and Lula (Cowart) Doster, and his sisters, Brenda Gabriel and Pamela Nunnally.

David’s pallbearers for his final journey will be Dustin McDaris, Robbie Smith, Matthew Doster, Paul Blankenship, Nate Shiver, and Kyle Roper, all of whom carry the honor and respect that David earned throughout his life.

Those who loved David will remember his warmth, his dedication to family, and his enduring enthusiasm for life’s simple and mechanical joys. His legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared by his family and friends.
