David Harold Brooks

December 12, 1949 — February 20, 2024

Colbert, Georgia

David Harold Brooks, 74, of Colbert, GA passed away on February 20, 2024, from an extended illness. Born on December 12, 1949, he was the son of the late Pete and Clara Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Brooks and sister, Carol Fiala.

David loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, but his favorite way of enjoying nature was to sit on his front porch watching the wildlife on their wooded property, which he did daily up until his final days. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoyed playing and watching golf. You could often find some sort of music playing wherever he was, but he specifically loved bluegrass. David was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. He loved his family, friends, and his dogs.  He will surely be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Obie Brooks; son, Jimmy Brooks (Charla); siblings, Bob Brooks, Jayne Bolton (Alan); grandchildren, Bella Brooks, Fisher Brooks, Carlee Thurmond, Casey Thurmond (Whitney); brother-in-law, Gene Fiala; numerous nieces and nephews.
