Connie Jean Delay, 62, passed into the arms of the Lord on August 10,2025. Known for her bright spirit and joyous laughter, she was beloved by all who knew her.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia to Claire Poole Blevins and Ted Blevins, Jr., she was sister to the late Paul Blevins. Connie grew up in the Piedmont area of Georgia but loved the coast and enjoyed travelling there with family and friends.
She was married to John Delay, the love of her life, and had one son, Bronson, whom she adored.
As a woman of strong faith and long-time member of Rays Church, Connie served in many areas, but her greatest gift to the church was her welcoming presence which radiated the love of the Lord and made everyone feel as if she were their best friend.
With a desire to complete her college education, she went back at the age of 56 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting while working full-time. She retired from Zaxby’s as an accountant.
For many years, Connie crafted handmade cards for family and friends to comfort and bring hope. All who were the beneficiary of these creations treasure them.
Connie’s larger than life persona inspired a character in several books, through which her legacy of love and joy will continue to encourage many.
Surviving Connie in addition to her husband, John, father and mother, Ted and Claire, are her son, Bronson DeLay and two brothers, Doyle and Keith Blevins. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Pastor Jerry Varnado officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Rays Methodist Church, 1521 Rays Church Road, Bishop, GA 30621 or ALS United of Georgia, 227 Sandy Springs Place, Suite D, Box #304, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
