Clover Ann Weller, 90, of Athens and Statham, Georgia and Salem, South Carolina, died of natural causes on June 4, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1935 in New York and lived across the country, including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Trumbull, Connecticut; Coral Gables, Florida; Ames, Iowa; Mesa, Arizona; Richardson, Texas; Athens, Georgia and Salem, South Carolina. Clover received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and a master’s degree in history from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Clover was the daughter of the late Clover Boldt Baird of Delray Beach, Florida and Hopewell Hall, Wellesley Island, Alexandria Bay, New York and Dr. Leslie Emerson Morrissett of Richmond, Virginia. She was the great-granddaughter of the late George C. and Louise A. Boldt of New York City, New York and Alexandria Bay, New York. Mr. Boldt was a former owner of the Bellevue Stratford and Waldorf Astoria Hotels and builder of the world renowned Boldt Castle on Heart Island in the Thousand Islands region, Alexandria Bay, New York.
An avid sport proponent for women’s sports and civic leader, Clover was SVAA soccer Coach of the Year, President of the University of Georgia Women’s Club and President of the Smith College Alumnae Association and Olympic volunteer at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Clover was a lifelong advocate for learning and took courses through the University of Georgia’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for many years. As an active community member, Clover also served on the board of the YWCO (Athens, Georgia) and Cedar Creek Homeowners Association. She was also a member of the Citizens Police Academy and Athens Clarke County Police Department volunteer.
Clover was a sports enthusiast and loyal Georgia Bulldog, Georgia GymDog, and Lady Bulldog fan. She also was a dedicated supporter of her grandchildren’s sporting events their entire lives, which often included traveling across the state of Georgia. Clover enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing on the Saint Lawrence Seaway, strength training, walking with the family dogs, and spending summers at the lake.
Clover was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister and devoted friend to many. She is survived by her son, Scott D. Morrissett of San Francisco, California; daughter, Lisbeth Brooke Hill and her husband Jeffery P. Hill of Statham, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Andrew Hill. Survivors also include two siblings, Leslie J. Morrissett of Moneta, Virginia and Carolyn Southard of Trumbull, Connecticut. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews. Clover was preceded in death by her daughter, Clover Kimberleigh Boldt Weller.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 22 at The Georgia Club in Village Hall at 1050 Chancellors Drive, Statham, Georgia 30666. The family looks forward to receiving guests from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Remembrances can be made in care of an organization or charity of your choice in the name of Clover Ann Weller.
