Athens - Claude E. Craft, 82, died August 31, 2005.
A native of Athens, he was the son of the late Claude E. Craft, Sr. (who died while serving as Captain of the Athens Police Department) and Ida Vassar Craft and was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Alliston Craft.
Mr. Craft was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired as supervisor of the meter department with Georgia Power Company with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors and was a Mason. Mr. Craft was a lifetime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and a longtime active member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Prince Avenue Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Ricketts and Mark Fite officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Chambers, Duel Maddox, Coleman Whitehead, Marvin Adams, Ray Hutchins and Don Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Georgia Power Ambassadors.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Hammond Craft; daughter, Claudia C. Gallagher (Rodney A.); stepchildren, Howell Hammond II (Leslie), Melanie Kopp, Linda Redfern (Mike) and Ben Hammond (Angie); granddaughters, Christelle C. Christian, Cherylle C. Brostrom and Cheri C. Christian; step grandchildren, Howell Hammond, III, Drew Redfern, Lindsey Redfern, Jordan Redfern, Garrison Hammond, Conner Hammond and Jenna Brewer and 2 great grandchildren, Wayne Brostrom and Zachary Brostrom.
Flowers are optional. Donations to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund are preferred.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
