Christine R. Christopher

Christine R. Christopher, 86, wife of the late Sidney Wesley Christopher, died on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

A native of Winterville, Chris was and longtime resident of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph E. Rochester and Velma Bramblett Rochester and was also preceded in death by her siblings: Martha Berryman, Charles Rochester, Betty Jean Rochester and James Henry Rochester. Sidney and Chris were married on June 28, 1959 and for 62 years shared a wonderful life together.

Chris retired after 40 years of distinguished and dedicated service to The University of Georgia, Office of the President as a Senior Administrative Assistant for five presidents. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, loved spending time with her family and traveling the globe.

Survivors her two children, Brent (Valerie) Christopher of Panama City, FL and Cynthia L. Christopher, all of Watkinsville; two grandchildren, Wesley (Karen) Fambrough and Tina (Tony) Phonekeo; one great grandchild, Silas Phonekeo.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel at Lord and Stephens East . Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
