Athens - Charlotte L. Simpson, 65, of Athens, GA died on September 20, 2005 at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Simpson, her daughter Jennifer Brandon, her son-in-law, Christopher Brandon Jr., grandson Christopher Brandon III, her son Timothy Simpson, daughter-in-law Dianne Hall Simpson, and grandsons Alexander Simpson, Benjamin Simpson and Timothy Simpson.Mrs. Simpson was educated in the public schools of Newport News, Virginia and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for several years and then spent the last portion of her career as a staff member in the University of Georgia College of Arts and Sciences Advising Program. Charlotte was called "Lot Lot" by her grandchildren and always put her family and their needs first. She was engaged in many community activities through the Green Acres Garden Club.The family of Charlotte Simpson will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East on Lexington Road on Sunday, September 25th. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the University of Georgia Chapel at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 1st.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish can contribute to the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Jennifer Garst's Lung Cancer Research Program, Duke University Medical Center 3828, Durham, NC 27710, Attention Annette Henderson. Contributions should be marked "In Memory of Charlotte Simpson."
