Athens - Charlie Heath Foster, 80, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2005.
A native of Oconee County, he lived most of his life in Athens. Mr. Foster was the son on the late James Samuel and Ethel Cox Foster.
He is survived by his wife Eura Foster, son and daughter-in-law David Lancaster and LuAnne Childress Foster of Belton, SC; son and daughter-in-law Donald Cox and Debbie Griner Foster of Dacula, GA; grandchildren, James Marshall Foster, Ashley Lancaster Foster, Benjamin Heath Foster, brothers, James Marvin Foster, Joe Cox Foster, George W. Foster; sister Margaret E. Foster; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Lancaster Foster; sister, Mary Louise Foster; and brother, Fred Hill Foster.
He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Retired from Bellsouth, Mr. Foster was a very active volunteer in the Bellsouth Pioneer Organization. He also volunteered his services with the repair of talking book machines at the Athens-Clarke County Regional Library. He was a deacon and long-time member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Lord & Stephens, WEST with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6PM to 8:30PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ray Hutchins, Gene Thornton, Oliver Kennon, Pete Argo, W. C. Smith and Todd McGown. Honorary pallbearers will be Athens Bellsouth Pioneers and the "Seekers" Sunday School class of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
