Charles N. McLure

Charles N. McLure, 74, of Watkinsville, passed away on January 1, 2024. Born on April 13, 1949 in Columbus, GA, he was the son of the late Luther and Nona (Graddy) McLure.

He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacology. He was a revered pharmacist for Fort Benning Martin Army Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare System, where he retired from in 2016.

Charles, affectionately called Charlie by his family and friends, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pat (Poole) McLure. He was the devoted father of John (Elizabeth) Moon, Michelle Moon, and Wesley (Casie) McLure. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother Larry (Jemmay) McLure; mother-in-law Mary Nell Short; grandchildren Aaron (Kirsten) Moon, Nar (Lily) Lakhicharran, and Hunter Lakhicharran; great grandchildren Grayson Moon, Little Nar Lakhicharran, and Nora Lakhicharran. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Charles loved his family fiercely and did everything he could to be the best father and provider for them. He enjoyed telling stories, traveling to Vegas, going on cruises, listening to classic rock and roll, attending concerts, flying planes, lounging by the pool, and being on the lake. He will be remembered for his quick-wit, intelligence, infectious smile and laugh, and fierce devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed by many who have loved him deeply for who he was and all he accomplished in his 74 years.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, 1/6/2024, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Lord & Stephens West, Watkinsville. A funeral service will be held immediately after visitation at 2:00pm.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, GA.
