Listen to Obituary

Celia Frady James, 72, of Bogart, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at home after a long illness.

Born in Brunswick, Georgia to Robert and Margaret Frady, she was raised all over the southeast, as her father was transferred frequently. After graduating from Kennesaw College, she worked for Cashin's Place restaurants until marrying and starting her family. Primarily a homemaker, she delighted in volunteer work ranging from Oconee County schools to the Piedmont garden club. In later life she developed a passion for hot yoga and was a charter member of Fuel in Athens.

Above all, Celia was a beautiful soul known for her easy laughter, sympathy and generosity. She made friends wherever she went and wanted to be useful wherever she was.

Celia is survived by her loving husband Ted; sons Andrew (Kaylin) James of Marietta, William James (Lindsay) of Athens, and Henry James of Athens; grandson Griffin James of Marietta; brothers Bob Frady of Grand Junction, CO and David Frady of Mandeville, LA, and many cherished friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Dawn Frady Gravett.

A celebration of life is ongoing in the hearts of her family and loved ones. Her warmth and smile will be forever remembered and missed.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests you pay a visit to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, where she will have a memorial bench. Enjoy the beauty of the gardens she loved, have a rest on her bench, and remember how she touched your life.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, West, Watkinsville, GA is in charge of arrangements. www.Iordandstephens.com
