Winterville - Catherine Charlotte Schultheis Carr, 84, formerly of Macon, died August 17, 2005.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Mrs. Carr taught fifth grade in the Bibb County School System for 20 years and was one of the first teachers to integrate the faculty of the Bibb County Schools. Mrs. Carr was a member of Tattnall Square Presbyterian Church in Macon and held offices in Presbyterian Church U.S. Women of the Church organization. She served as a leader on the Presbytery Christian Education Committee at Tattnall Square Presbyterian Church and Augusta-Macon Presbytery. Later, she served as president of the Presbyterian Women organization for Augusta-Macon Presbytery. Mrs. Carr served on the Presbyterian Womenís Coordinating Team for the Synod of Southeast.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Carr, Sr.; children, Thomas M. Carr, Jr. of Lincoln, NE, Elaine C. Crawford of Baltimore, MD, Emily Gene Carr and Jacqueline C. Elsner, both of Athens; grandchildren, David Fowlkes, Mark Fowlkes, Catherine Crawford, Reginald Crawford, Gretchen Elsner and Daniel Elsner; great grandchildren, Maggie Fowlkes, Jack Fowlkes, Andy Fowlkes, Julian Pleasant and Tim Crawford.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST. Revs. Charles Cook and Bob Bohler will officiate. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 5575, Athens, GA 30604, in memory of Catherine Charlotte Schultheis Carr.
