Carole Brown Langley, 82, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on October 17, 2025. Born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on July 31, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Reta Brown of Athens.

Carole married the love of her life, Emmett Langley, also of Athens. Together they built a beautiful life centered around love, faith, and family. Carole cherished being a mother to their two daughters, guiding them with patience, humor, and an unwavering belief in their potential. She often reminded them to “Be the best you can be”, a lesson she both taught and lived by. Their home was filled with laughter, music, and the smell of something baking in the kitchen—always a reflection of the warmth she brought to every part of her family’s life.

Carole was also a devoted and joyful grandmother—teaching her grandchildren to bake cookies, build sandcastles, and share her lifelong love of the beach. Countless cherished memories were made together on the shores of St. Simons Island.

A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, Carole earned her master’s degree in Middle School Education. Her love for children guided her career as both a teacher and choir leader. She joyfully led the 4- and 5-year-olds’ choir at Athens First United Methodist Church for many years. She made a lasting impact at Statham Elementary, Winder-Barrow Middle School, and Malcolm Bridge Middle School where her gift and passion for teaching touched countless lives. Twice honored as Teacher of the Year, she was beloved by students and colleagues alike. An unwavering Bulldawg fan, Carole’s passion for University of Georgia athletics ran deep. Some of Carole’s favorite memories were attending football and basketball games with her father and sister and treasured the walks through Five Points on game days.

Carole’s devotion extended beyond the classroom. She cared deeply for her husband, Emmett, serving as his tireless health advocate during his final years. Emmett passed away earlier this year, and their family takes comfort in the thought of them reunited after 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Carole is survived by her daughters Alicia Langley Lewis (Riggs) and Beth Langley Schild (Chris); grandchildren Grant Ramos Lewis and Eliza Langley Lewis; and her beloved sister, Susan Brown Whitehead.
