Brenda Kay Gunter

Brenda Gunter, 67, of Watkinsville, passed away on May 4, 2026.

Brenda was a devoted wife to Mark Gunter, with whom she shared 23 wonderful years of marriage, and a proud, loving mother to Brandon Smith (Alyssa), Trenton Smith, Jeff Smith (Cassie), and Wade Gunter (Cecily). She was a cherished Mimi to her grandchildren: Nathan, Conner, Kadence, Waylon, Jayden, Parker, and Kinsley, who brought her so much joy and meant the world to her. Brenda also had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, who always held a special place in her heart.

Brenda dedicated more than 30 years to Hawthorne Orthopedics, where she truly loved her work and the people she worked alongside. She had a gift for building relationships, and her coworkers quickly became like family.

Outside of work, Brenda’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling with friends, giving to others, and making every holiday feel special, especially Christmas. No detail was ever too small when it came to creating meaningful moments for the people she loved.

Brenda had the biggest heart. She loved deeply, gave freely, and lived with a kindness that touched everyone who knew her. She was fiercely proud of her family, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.

She will be deeply missed, but the love she poured into her family and friends will continue to be felt for years to come.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, located at 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road, Watkinsville, Georgia 30677.
