Brenda Faye (Campbell) Fitzpatrick peacefully went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Brenda was a faithful servant of the Lord who trusted Him through her final breath as she fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was a talented pianist and a faithful prayer warrior for many. After growing up in Colbert, Georgia, she graduated from the University of Georgia with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Education. She later earned her Specialist in Education degree with a focus on reading. Brenda taught at Carnes Creek Elementary in Toccoa, Colbert Elementary, and Fourth Street Elementary in Athens. She retired after 30 years of teaching service, concluding her career at Alps Road Elementary in Athens. While there, she established an innovative Higher Order Thinking Skills lab that received top recognition in the field of reading intervention.
Brenda had a remarkable story of faith and endurance following the passing of her children, Heather Lynn Fitzpatrick, Erin Fitzpatrick Jones, Scott Fitzpatrick, and David Fitzpatrick. She wrote about this journey in her book, They Called Me Job, which has inspired many who are walking through grief and learning endurance. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Liberty Church in Ila.
In addition to her children, Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Denver and Winnie Mae (Christian) Campbell of Colbert, and her sister, Betty Kathryn (Campbell) Phillips of Hull.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Berry Fitzpatrick; her sister, Judy Campbell James (Terry) of Colbert; her brothers, Dennis Rabun Campbell (Kathy) of Saluda, South Carolina, and Timothy Alan Campbell (Sandra) of Braselton, Georgia; loving aunts; an uncle; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends.
