Tim Bare

January 22, 1950 — May 1, 2026

Listen to Obituary

Boyce Timothy “Tim” Bare went to be with our heavenly father on May 1, 2026. Tim was born January 22, 1950, in West Jefferson, NC to Jack E. and Ethel Theresa (Rushing) Bare. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Bare. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donice Lanelle (Marr) Bare of Athens, GA, and his three daughters Michelle (Casey) Moore of Dacula, GA, Katie Collins of Winder, GA, and Sharon (John) Cook of Buford, GA; grandchildren Cole (Ashlyn) Moore, of Plano, TX, Canyon Moore, of Mt. Juliet, TN, Norah Cook of Buford, GA, and Justis Collins of Winder, GA; great grandchildren Katelyn and Madison Moore of Plano, TX. He is also survived by his mother, Theresa Bare of Lakeland, FL, and siblings, Kevin Bare of Elberton, GA, Jacquelin Ramos of Elberton, GA, and Marsha Anderson of Punta Gorda, FL, and many other family members and friends who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Keith (Sheila) Kiley, and Kim Yarini, and their children and grandchildren.

Tim grew up in Lakeland, FL, and in 1977 moved with his family to Winder, GA, where he worked for 20 years as an engineer for Stepan Company. He later moved to Athens, GA, where he owned Automated Gate Access for 23 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps (Semper Fi). He attended Forest Heights Baptist Church for 28 years in Athens, GA, where he served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir. Tim passionately served Gideons International for 22 years as a member of the Athens West Camp. He served on the state cabinet the last 10 years and was recently elected as the state president for Georgia. He was so excited about the opportunity to serve the Lord in this capacity. Tim enjoyed fishing and watching baseball. Later in life he revived his childhood memory of beekeeping with his grandfather and became a beekeeper himself. He spent many hours learning to take care of the bees with his friend Bobby. It was one of his favorite retirement “hobbies”.

Tim fiercely loved his family. He was so proud of his daughters, sons-in-law, and grand/great grandchildren. Tim and his wife Donice had a special bond. They were best friends who did everything together whether it was watching baseball, attending church, serving the Gideons side-by-side, or attending as many baseball, football, softball, and band concerts as possible for their grandchildren.

There is no doubt for anyone who knew Tim that when he closed his eyes on Friday, May 1, he opened them in heaven to Jesus saying, “well done my good and faithful servant.”

Tim’s life will be honored on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Forest Heights Baptist Church, 1155 Oglethorpe Ave. Athens, GA. Family and friends are invited to visitation 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
