Bobby Burns Parks

Bobby Burns Parks, 91, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Bobby lived in Hull, GA but was born in Gillsville to the late Ernest and Minnie Parks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Parks, Bill Parks and David Parks; sisters, Willeta Poole, Eula Waters and Grace Cronic; his beloved wife of over 55 years, Doris Parks and second wife, Colleen Berryman. Bobby was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Lieutenant with the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department. He was also a poultry and cattle farmer, did construction work, built homes and owned a roofing company. Bobby loved fishing, hunting, traveling and most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Jane Loop (Steve) of Cumming, GA and Sandra Broadnax of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Anna Broadnax, Cody Loop and Kate Broadnax; great-grandson, Damon Loop and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregiver Jan Hughes for her loyal care. A special thanks goes to Candice, Noel, Christy, Tamara, Amanda, Phoebe, Lauren, Brittany, Brandy and Kwania at Avery Village and also to Leah from Agape Hospice. Donations may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Neese. Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
