Bobbie MeMaw Dillard

April 3, 1933 — October 26, 2023

Bobbie Nell (MeMaw) Dillard, 90, of Statham, passed away on Thursday October 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  She was a lifelong resident of Oconee County.

Bobbie was born on April 3, 1933, to Frank and Elizabeth Porterfield.  In her early years she enjoyed playing basketball, water skiing, camping with family and friends and going to concerts with most of those being Elvis.  She enjoyed her weekly card games with her closest friends.  Bobbie was an avid sports fan, and you could find her in front of her television any time that the Braves, Hawks, Falcons and especially her Dawgs were playing.

On April 22, 1951, she married her loving husband, Don Dillard, who she met on a blind date.  Through this marriage she gained two sisters, Janice Faulkner and Trena Townley.  Bobbie and Don had three children, Jeannie, Reggie, and Tina.  She also shared a special bond with her sister-in-law, Clarice Porterfield, who was always up for spending the day shopping and enjoying a meal at one of their many favorite spots.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brother Niles Porterfield and brother-in-law George Faulkner.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jeannie, and Tina.  She is also survived by her loving and devoted son-in-law of 52 years, Randy Dawson, a daughter-in-law and favorite hair stylist, Becky Dillard, and son-in-law Mo Kilgore.  Grandchildren Adam (Heather), Toby and Charlie (Elese) Dillard, Matt (Paige) Mann and Lane (Ashlan) Smith, TJ (Kelsey) Mobley and Rachel (Tyler) Surrency.  Great grandchildren Wyatt, Jeslyn, Brynden, Kayden, Alexia, Ronan, Stephen, Carter, Kinsley, Karsyn, Harper, Gracyn, Kylie, Duke, Cambrie, Sawyer and Walker.

In Bobbie’s 90 years, she enjoyed many things but most of all she enjoyed being Memaw, not only to her grandchildren but to all that knew her.  Her passion for sports was infectious and passed to her grandsons, who have many memories of watching and talking about their favorite teams with their Memaw.  You could always find her cheering them on at any sporting activity that they chose.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons with Honorary Pallbearers being the Chicks in Action from Ray’s Methodist Church.

The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to her caregiver and dear friend Susan Wright along with Bessie Smith, Joyce Black and Nikki Ansley.

Flowers will be accepted, and memorials can be made to Ray’s Methodist Church (1521 Rays Church Rd, Bishop, Ga 30621) or ACTS (130 E Thompson St, Bogart, Ga 30622).

Visitation will be at Lord and Stephens West Chapel on October 28th from 6:00 until 8:00.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 29th at 4PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Jerry Varnado and Harold Townley officiating.  Private interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
