Barbara Lee Hicks

Barbara Lee Hicks, born April 13, 1933, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, faith, and cherished memories.

Barbara was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She lived many years in Lake Lure, North Carolina, where she was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church. She had a strong faith that was an important part of her life and brought her comfort and strength throughout the years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles F. Hicks, with whom she shared more than 60 years of marriage; her parents, Grady F. and Bernice Tillman Stutts; and her brother, Neil Stutts.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Stutts Fail; her sons, Claude Hicks and Bryan Hicks; her daughters, Mary Ann Sullivan and Carole Lee Hicks; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara found great joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved gardening, cooking, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her warmth, love, devotion, and strong faith touched the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a family who will carry her love and faith in their hearts always.

Per her wishes, the family will hold a private funeral service and interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Barbara’s honor to one of the following organizations: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Hospice Foundation, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
