Barbara Hazel Crosby Harris, age 79, Watkinsville, GA, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Barbara was born on September 18, 1946 in Rome, GA to Reverend and Mrs. Ralph Crosby. She grew up in Chicopee and Athens, Georgia, and was a graduate of Athens High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jerry W. Harris. They were married in 1964 and shared years of love and devotion together. Barbara was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for many years as a customer service representative at Smith-Boley-Brown Insurance. After retiring, she treasured helping her children by caring for her grandchildren at "Nana's Nursery." She was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church and enjoyed being active in her Sunday School class. Barbara will always be remembered for her generosity, humor, quick wit, and unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Throughout her life she exemplified kindness and generosity, living each day with a servant’s heart. Barbara was devoted to God, her family/grandchildren, friends, church, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoons.
Barbara is survived by her children Julie Hansford (Doug), Brian Harris (Angela), her four precious grandchildren - Matthew Hansford (Fabiola), Joshua Hansford, Emily Ash (Jacob), and Elizabeth Harris (Mark), and her great-grandson Jace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry W. Harris, and her brothers, R. Hampton Crosby and Ralph "Sonny" Harris. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Barbara was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, August 8 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home-West (1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd. Watkinsville GA. 30677). Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, August 8 at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park in Watkinsville, GA. (2370 Hog Mountain Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677)
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Beech Haven Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
