Baldomero Morales

Baldomero Morales, 51, of Athens, GA passed away on Saturday May 10th, 2025. The son of Teresa Cardenas and the late Santiago Morales (January 2025).

After immigrating to America in his early teens, Baldomero set roots in Florida after graduating high school from California. It was there in Florida that he met his wife, Liliana Rueda Mendoza. It did not take long before they wed and began to start their family. After a few moves, they set roots in Thomasville, GA. Baldomero was always a hardworking man, spending many years at Old Mexico Mexican Restaurant in Thomasville, GAbuilding relationships with his community and family. It was here that he got the nickname “BJ” which would be how most people would know him. He would then move with his family up to the Athens area where he would try his luck in construction and even open a restaurant for a while. In October 2024, he suffered a life-threatening emergency, requiring emergency open heart surgery at Piedmont Hospital in Athens to have an aortic dissection surgery. Dr. Cullen Morris and his team worked on him, looked over him, and watched as he overcame hurdle after hurdle for more than 60 days between the CICU and ICU. After being discharged from the hospital and spending a pair of weeks in intensive rehabilitation in Macon, he was finally able to come back home. It was here that he was able to continue to recover and rehab with his family by his side.Baldomero will always be rememberedfor his warrior, but for gentle attitude.

Baldomero Morales is survived by his wife Liliana Rueda Mendoza, his son and daughter in law Sergio Alexander and Molly Echols Morales, his son and daughter Eduardo and Mia Camila Morales, and many relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 17th, 2025, at St Joseph Catholic Church at 12:30 in the afternoon.
