Audrey Brown Rowden, 87, died on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Born and raised in Oconee County, Audrey was the daughter of the late Luther Fred Brown and Sybil Porter Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Orell Brown and Eugene Brown and longtime companion, Randall Scoggins. She attended school in Bogart and was an avid basketball player for her school’s team. Audrey lived her life on the land, raising livestock, tending to her gardens, and enjoyed going to yard sales. She had worked at Barrow Manufacturing and Bensons Bakery. She proudly resided at home on her beloved farm until the end.
Audrey was survived by her daughter; Angela Kay Rowden Wadley and her husband Jim Wadley of Statham, GA; one son: Dale Rowden of Jamestown, TN; grandchildren: David Wadley and his wife Amy Wadley of Statham, GA, Amanda Blankenship and her husband John Blankenship of Bogart, GA, Eric Rowden, Brett Rowden and Nikki Rowden all of Jamestown, TN; great grandchildren: Jack Wadley, Ava Jane Wadley, Ben Wadley, Mason Rowden and Emmalyne Rowden; sister: Linda Fouche of Bogart, GA and a special nephew: Gerald Brown who visited her weekly as well as many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her longtime caregivers, Mary Caldwell and Sherri Page and Dr. Mark Paradella and the nurses and office staff of Athens Geriatrics.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00am at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2024.
