Anthony Monroe Lynn, Jr.

Anthony Monroe "Tony" Lynn, Jr. was born on May 1, 1946 in Asheville, NC. He passed away on January 7, 2026.

Tony dedicated 20 years of his career as a Correctional Officer at the Athens Clarke County Jail. He also proudly served in the US Air Force, retiring as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie Marie Lynn, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Anthony M. Lynn, III, Amy Lynn (Cleveland) Nash, and Stephen T. Lynn. His siblings, John Howard (Janine) Lynn and Diane Lynn Bowden, continue to cherish his memory. He was a cherished grandfather to Anna Rae (Anthony) Wichcomb, Emily Marie Lynn, Daniel Mason Lynn, Ashlynn M. Nash, Tyler J. Nash, and Dylan M. Nash. Tony also had a great grandson, Kaylen Jiles. He is remembered fondly by his nephews and niece who were like his own children: Brian Bowden, Matthew Bowden, Samuel Bowen, and Jennifer Lynn Phillips, as well as his niece and nephews, Deanna Nicole Malone, Nicholas Lynn, and Joseph Lynn.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Monroe Lynn, Sr. and Anna Maude Whitaker, and by his siblings, Joseph William Lynn, James Mason Lynn, and Timothy Wayne Lynn.

A visitation for Tony will be held on January 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Oconee Chapel, located at 2370 Hog Mountain Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677. This will be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Oconee Chapel. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
