Anthony Neal Baggett of Oconee County, Ga passed away Friday September 22, 2023 following a prolonged illness and complications of cervical spine surgery. He is preceded in death by his parents James C. Baggett’s and Juanita Rose Matthews Baggett of Douglasville, Ga and brother Carlton Joe Baggett of Douglasville, Ga. He is survived by one brother, James C. Baggett, Jr, M.D. (Anita) Homerville, Ga, nieces EmLee Tennille (Jonathan)of St.Cloud, Fl and Alethia Rose Baggett (Todd)of Alexandria , VA, nephews Hunter and Jacob Pylant of Orlando, Fl. and Aiden and James Brydges of Alexandria, VA

Neal had a lifelong interest in animals. He earned degrees in Animal Husbandry from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of Georgia. He also received advanced farrier training in Arizona learning how to rehabilitate horses with crippling hoof problems. His interest turned to metal work and he earned an international reputation for his specialty hoof knives and long blade utility knives. His hoof knives were sold to farriers and veterinarians across the world. At the peak of his profession, Neal had a website that was a popular forum to discuss old techniques and new developments in instruments for hoof care and participated in several podcasts. Neal had a myriad of followers both on social media and from his participation in trade shows across the country.

He will be sorely missed by those who knew and had the chance to work with him.

Neal’s remains will be cremated and retained by the family. No formal memorial services are planned.
