Anna Carithers Thomason, 76, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in Ila on August 16, 2025. Born on July 27, 1949, Anna lived a life filled with love for her family and friends.
During her career, Anna devoted her time and skills to C&S Bank. She enjoyed several years at home with her children before returning to work at Ila Elementary School as the school secretary. She spent many happy years at Ila where she made many friends and touched the lives of many children.
Anna was a member of Ila Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended with her children when they were young and worked with the children’s programs. She found joy in the art of cross-stitching and needlepoint, lovingly creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and having monthly lunches with her friends. Seeing those she loved laughing and smiling made her heart the happiest. She especially enjoyed having all of her family together for birthday dinners and holiday celebrations.
She was a loving wife to Aubrey Thomason of 52 years, Together, they built a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter and memories. Anna was proud to be the mother of Ginger (Gary) Miller, Lisa (Chris) Fortson, and Jason (Valerie) Thomason, offering each of them unwavering love and support as they navigated their own paths in life.
Her grandchildren Jenna Miller, Max Miller, Jake Strickland, Tyler Fortson, Eli Thomason, and Noah Thomason, were her greatest blessings. Anna loved them deeply, showering them with affection, wisdom, and countless cherished moments that they will carry with them always.
Anna is preceded in death by her mother, Susie Faulkner Carithers, who instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and hard work. Though her physical presence will be greatly missed, Anna’s legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private service for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison County Food Bank or the charity of your choice.
