Ann Elizabeth Hale Kitchens, 91, of Winterville, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. Born October 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jasper “Jack” Hale and Sarah Elizabeth McCune Hale.

Ann graduated from Athens High School in 1952. She married John Dean Kitchens in August 1953 with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. Always putting her family first, Ann was a full-time mother to Tim and Travis during their pre-school years. She served as president of the PTA during that time and later taking on various and challenging jobs, retiring from Athens Housing Authority in 1996.

Ann was a former member of Oconee Street Methodist Church and current member of East Athens Baptist Church. She enjoyed making crafted gifts for children of the church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Lee Hale (Ruth) and Billy Raymond Hale (Nellie), and her son, Timothy Lee Kitchens.

She is survived by her son Travis Kitchens (Bette) and two grandchildren, Jack Kitchens and Ava Kitchens.

As requested by Ann, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East Athens Baptist Church, 4325 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605.
