Andrea Swilley

Andrea Johnson Swilley, 57, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on January 29, 2026, after a brief illness.

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 3, 1968, to the late Michael Bruce Johnson and Sue Parker Johnson.

Raised in Albany, Georgia, she graduated from Westover High School. She spent 2 years at Darton College where she served as President of the student body. She transferred to Agnes Scott College where she received her bachelor’s degree in English.

Andrea worked as a Development Director and event planner throughout most of her career. She loved every minute of her work. She planned everything from a college president’s inauguration gala to handling events for UGA to herding 1500 realtors through events at The Athens Association of Realtors. She touched many lives.

She enjoyed being with friends and family. She was the matriarch of “SwilleyGate”. She was a proud member of “The Black Ring Mafia”. She loved reality tv, cooking shows and medical dramas. Especially Grey’s Anatomy. She loved karaoke and would spend many nights at home with Britt just singing and laughing. She loved her friends. She loved being a mom and she was ecstatic about being GiGi to her grandbabies.

Andrea is survived by her husband Britt; Sons John Andrew Swilley of Athens, Ga, Thomas Hayes Swilley, daughter in love Mary Elizabeth Swilley, and grandsons Hayes Johnson Swilley and Deacon James Swilley of Buford, Ga.
