Monroe

Dana Dean Lindsay Pothier, age 82 loving wife of 43 years to Robert (Bob) Pothier of Monroe, GA, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 7, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital of Athens.  Born In Pennsylvania on February 9, 1941, to Robert and Elizabeth Lindsay.  Dana was raised in Lewistown, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Lewistown High School where she was a majorette in the marching band.

Dana married Bob in 1967 and raised 5 children, working as a homemaker, teaching aerobics, serving as a hostess at model homes for John Weiland and teaching as a paraprofessional at Cedar Hill Elementary.

After retiring she moved to Mount Dora, FL where she lived for five years then moving to Anderson, SC for 19 years before settling in Monroe, GA., making many friends along the way. Dana loved her role as a former Queen Mother of the Frolicking Friends chapter of the Red Hat Society in Anderson, SC.  She spent many of her days driving around looking for horses to feed and dogs to play with and spending days and nights on the couch watching (and re-watching) Hallmark movies involving snow, horses and dogs.

But most of all she cherished spending time with her five children, nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren (and anyone who had a dog to bring over for a play date).

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Pothier and survivors include her sons, Michael R. Pothier, Sr., and his wife, Christina of Kannapolis, NC, Richard R. Pothier and his wife, Elissa of Summit, NJ and Robert M. Pothier and his wife, Sunshyne of Boulder, CO; daughters, Patricia J. Piotrowski of Lawrenceville, GA and Renee E. Dempsey and her husband, Martin of Watkinsville, GA; nine grandchildren, Michael, Elise, Rachel, Jacqueline, Catherine, Benedict, Carter Pothier and Danielle and Julia Dempsey; four great-grandchildren, Eli and Elli Pothier and Vivian and Henry Phelan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Ronald and Robert Lindsay.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, Smile Train or THON.org (for childhood cancer) or to the charity of one's choice.
